JAKARTA: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is currently sifting through a pool of candidates proposed by the Attorney General's Office to select a number of new prosecutors.
"We will only choose around half of the 45 names proposed," KPK deputy chairman Chandra Hamzah said to tempointeraktif.com on Thursday.
Chandra said the KPK was currently hiring more investigators than prosecutors.
"Ideally, we should have an equal number of investigators and prosecutors," he said.
Chandra, however, denied any link between the lack of prosecutors and the slow process behind prosecuting corrupt suspects. He said the problem rested with the limited number of judges at the Corruption Court. - JP
