The General Elections Commission (KPU) will start printing the presidential election ballot papers today and those will be distributed three days from now.
“We have validated the ballot design. The distribution itself will be carried out within the next three days,” deputy of the commission’s logistic bureau, Boradi, said on Monday.
He said that the commission would prioritize distributing the ballot to remote areas and abroad.
“The prioritized areas are Papua, West Papua, Maluku, North Maluku, Simeuleu regency in Aceh, Nias and South Nias in North Sumatra, Mentawai in West Sumatra, Riau Islands, and several areas in Kalimantan and Sulawesi,” he said.
“We will have prepared around 1.5 million ballots by Wednesday to be distributed to abroad,” he added.
He said that the commission was expecting that the distribution process would be completed by June 25.
The 23 by 27 centimeters ballot papers depict the candidates wearing suits and Islamic cap (peci), while Megawati Soekarnoputri wears a red blazer.
Previously, the commission expected to start printing ballot papers on Sunday but it was delayed because presidential candidates Jusuf Kalla and his running mate wanted to change their picture. The previous design depicted the candidates wearing plain shirt. (
