The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named four suspects who allegedly accepted bribes to appoint Miranda S. Goeltom as deputy governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) in 2004 after it followed up on evidence given by from former lawmaker Agus Tjondro Prayitno.
"Our investigation team has handled the case since Monday and we have
declared four suspects: HY, UD, DMM and ES," KPK deputy chairman M. Jasin
said here on Tuesday.
The four have been identified as Hamka Yandhu, Uju Djuhaeri, Dudi Makmun Murod
and Endin Sofihara.
Uju is now an official at the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), while Hamka is currently
serving his three-and-a-half year jail term for his involvement in another BI
bribery case. Dudi and Endin hold positions in the House.
The case came to light after Agus admitted before the Corruption Court that he received Rp 500 million (US$50,000) in travelers checks a few days after Miranda was elected BI deputy governor.
