House to question officials over electoral roll

JAKARTA: A House of Representatives special committee investigating voter list fraud in the April legislative elections, met Monday and decided to question a number of high-profile officials from the Home Ministry and the General Elections Commission (KPU).

According to Lena Mariana Mukti from the United Development Party (PPP), who is also the deputy chief of the committee, said the officials would be summoned next week.

"We will propose this plan to a plenary meeting on Wednesday before we set the schedule," she told The Jakarta Post at the House of Representatives.

In addition to the Home Minister Madiyanto, and the KPU and Election Supervisory Board (Baslu) chiefs, the committee also plans to summon representatives from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Abdul Rasyid Saleh, director general of Population Administration Affairs at the Home Ministry and several civilians who were victims of the voter fraud, Lena said. -JP
