A part of South Tangerang's planned Serpong-Jakarta airport turnpike would go through established residential areas, a Public Work Agency official said Tuesday.

Eddy Malonda, head of the agency told tempointeraktif.com that the Serpong-Kuncira-Soekarno-Hatta Airport turnpike project would pass through the residential areas of Bintaro and Bumi Serpong Damai.

Eddy said most of the unoccupied plots of land and farm fields have been purchased.

He, however, said that the agency has yet to purchase privatly owned land and houses, as they were still calculating the cost.

Kunciran-Serpong, part of the the turnpike project, will stretch through 11.2 kilometers of South Tangerang. The calculated cost of the construction project is expected to reach Rp 2.1 trillion (US$210 million) and is expected to be completed in 2011. (dre)
