Tangerang District Court has suspended the detention of defendant Prita Mulyasari pending a verdict of her defamation case, tempointeraktif.com reported.

Prita's lawyer Slamet Juwono said Thursday his client had received the confirmation from prosecutor Riyadi. The suspension letter was signed by Presiding Judge Karel Tuffu.

“The court will hand over the official letter to my client tonight,” Slamet said.

Prita is standing trial for alleged defamation filed by Omni International Hospital after she posted her complaint about the hospital’s services on the Internet last year. She is facing a maximum of six-year imprisonment and Rp 1 billion (US$ 100,000) in fine.

Prosecutors put her under city arrest on June 3 after detaining her for three weeks. (ewd)
