Kalla will not revise investment law

Presidential candidate Jusuf Kalla emphasized that he would not revise the 2007 Law on Investment if he wins the presidential election.

“There will no revision on investment law. Kalla and Wiranto would only enforce the law to make the law friendly for both domestic and foreign investors,” Harry Azhar Azis, a member of their campaign team, told The Jakarta Post on Thursday.

He said they would consider imposing tax policies for land leases.

“We will check and, if there is no activity on the land for three years after securing the permit, we will increase the land tax,” he said.

He said many investors leased hundreds of hectares of land across the country but the land remained idle, causing a high-cost economy.
