JAMBI: Local public order officers are intensifying raids on students visiting Internet caf*s in Jambi city during school hours.

They are also continuing operations on uniformed students seen loitering outside of schools.

Jambi Public Order Agency head Rianto said Friday his officers had nabbed at least 17 students in raids at Internet caf*s earlier in the week.

He said students netted in the raids would be given warnings and have their parents notified.

"Summoning their parents to notify them is meant as a deterrent for the students, so they don't the same thing in the future," Rianto said.

He added his agency would continue coordinating with the local education office in the matter.

The raids will also be used to identify Internet caf*s that have no business permits or have expired permits, Rianto said. - JP
