Body found at LPG depot fire scene identified

South Sulawesi Police have identified a dead body at found at the scene
of a fire at a Pertamina liquid petroleum gas (LPG) depot as the driver of a
tank trucker which was burnt in the incident in Makassar on Saturday.
Province police chief Insp. Gen. Mathius Salempang told journalist that the body belonged to 40-year-old Najamuddin aka Maja (not Ibrahim as previously reported), a tank truck driver for PT Permata Alam Sulawesi, of Takalar regency.
His burnt body was found inside the destroyed vehicle as firefighters brought the blaze under control.
Police have taken the body to Bhayangkara Police Hospital in Makassar for autopsy. Three men who were injured in the incident had already been taken to Jala Ammari Navy Hospital.
Witnesses said the fire was started at around 9 a.m. when the tanker truck was filling up at the depot. The police however have yet to make any statement regarding the cause of the fire. (dre)
