JAKARTA: The Transjakarta busway management body (BLU) finally settled Friday the overdue payment to consortiums operating busway corridors 4 to 7.

"We paid this morning," said BLU head Daryati Asrining Rini.

She said BLU officials, who usually paid each month, had initially planned to pay PT Jakarta Trans Metropolitan (JTM) and PT Jakarta Mega Trans (JMT) after the arbitration body had announced the fixed operational rate per kilometer the buses travel. She said the body had changed its decision after learning the two companies did not have enough money to buy fuel.

The two companies did not receive payments for two months, a total of Rp 24 billion. As a result, 109 buses stopped operating for several hours on Thursday because they could not deliver a deposit to the compressed natural gas (CNG) station on Jl. Pemuda. -JP
