Residents of Bandarlampung, Lampung, faced day-long blackouts Saturday, as state power company PT PLN repaired the city's Tanjung Karang Main Generator.
“The electricity cut will last from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the repair,” said Sumargo, a local PLN spokeperson, as quoted by state news agency Antara.
He said that the repair was part of routine maintenance at the power station to ensure power a steady supply ahead of the presidential election on July 8.
PLN said they had announced the blackouts through official letters and the local news media on Friday.
The Tanjung Karang station supplies electricity for most of the city, except for several small areas in Panjang and near Jl. Dr. Sutami. (dre)
