Thousands of C. Java students fail final exams

As many as 14,771 high school and vocational students in Central Java did not pass this year's final exams, down from 275, 618 students in last year's tests.
Chairman of the provincial education agency Kunto Nugroho said Saturday that the province saw 95. 5 percent of its students pass the exams while 4.45 percent had failed to reach the required grades.
He said the province had successfully carried out the examination procedures and did not have to repeat any of the tests as no cases of cheating had been found.
“Those who were unable to pass the exams may take the equivalency tests, known as Paket C exams, which will be held on June 23, “he said in Semarang.
