Jusuf Kalla breaches state ethics in Aceh peace: SBY team

Bara Hasibuan, a member of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's (SBY) campaign team, said Monday that opponent Jusuf Kalla's statement on the Aceh peace process constituted a breach of state ethics.

Bara denied Kalla's claim that he was the only one who took the risks necessary to bring peace to Aceh, saying that all peace negotiations between the Indonesian government and the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) were approved by President SBY.

"Jusuf Kalla is still the Vice President and part of the government led by SBY. How publicly criticized the head of the state," Bara said, as quoted by state news agency Antara.

He added that Kalla may have played the biggest role in bringing peace to Aceh, but all articles in the Aceh peace treaty had been examined by SBY before he signed it.
