The Omni International Hospital in Alam Sutera, Tangerang has said it is ready to face
lawsuit from Prita Mulyasari, a former patient who was jailed for complaining about the hospital’s poor services.
Ronald TA Simanjutak from the hospital's legal affairs team told
kompas.com that the hospital would not withdraw its criminal lawsuit against Prita, who is facing trial for slander at Tangerang District Court.
“We will accept her lawsuit but we can not elaborate on the strategies we will use to face it,” he said during a press conference at the hospital on Monday.
Meanwhile, Prita's lawyer Samsu Anwar said that his client was preparing to sue the hospital.
“We will file the lawsuit after we finish the trials processes,” Samsu said.
Prita is facing a maximum of six years imprisonment and fines of Rp 1 billion (US$ 100,000) for complaining about the hospital in an email widely circulated in August last year. (ewd)
