Presidential candidate Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and his running mate
Boediono pledged, if elected, they would improve teachers' welfare.
The pair's campaign team spokesman, Rizal Malarangeng, said Monday the new
minimum wage plan for teachers would be based on teacher's qualifications.
SBY planned to set teachers minimum salary at Rp 2 million
(US$198) a month, and Rp 13 million for professors, Rizal said.
“We will continue to implement this plan nationwide. We will also provide additional allowances for teachers and other educational workers in
order to improve our educational quality,” he said.
The pair would implement the new minimum wage plan at state-owned and private schools. (bbs)
