JAKARTA: The General Elections Commission (KPU) said Monday that 64 percent of ballot papers for the July 8 presidential election were ready, some of which had already been sent to provinces outside Java and Bali.

Boradi, deputy chairman of the KPU logistics bureau, said ballot papers for the more than 180 million voters would be ready for distribution by June 25.

"As of Monday, the printing companies will have finished printing more than 115 million ballot papers and we expect the distribution of ballots will be finished by June 25," Boradi said Monday.

The commission has completed the distribution of the ballot papers to Papua, West Papua, Maluku, North Maluku, Aceh, North Sumatra, Riau, Jambi, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi.

He said that provinces in Java would be the last to receive the ballot papers because it was the most accessible island.

He also said the commission had taken security measures at each printing company and during the distribution of ballots. -JP
