President commissioner of PT Asset Management Company (PPA)
Raden Pardede has resigned from the state firm to focus on campaigning for Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his running mate
Boediono.
"Raden has resigned from his post at his company and will continue to work for the SBY campaign team," Wirdyaningsih, a member of the Election Supervisory Body, said Tuesday.
Pardede sent his resignation letter on June 12 and the poll watchdog will confirm his exit from the company to the state enterprises minister.
"Raden said through his legal advisor that he joined the campaign team upon request from his close friend Boediono," Wirdyaningsih said.
The 2008 presidential election law restricts officials of state companies from campaigning for candidates.
Chairman of the supervisory board of state money printing company Peruri Achdari and president commissioner of state oil and gas company PT Pertamina Sutanto, have recently resigned from Yudhoyono’s campaign team.
Wirdyaningsih said president commissioner of state telecommunication company PT Telkom, Tanri Abeng, had not yet clarified his involvement with Jusuf Kalla’s campaign team.
"He [Tanri] said he would come to our office to clarify his position on the team, but he failed to turn up," she said. (fmb)
