The country's retail market has reduced spending on advertising to Rp
32 billion (US$3.2 million) in the first four months of this year, down
from Rp 40 billion in the same period last year, the company Nielsen
said Tuesday.
The survey took samples of advertisments for seven every-day products: powdered
milk, shampoo, instant noodles, detergent, diapers, skin
care products and cooking oil.
The duration of advertisement for cooking oil, powdered milk, shampoo and diapers dropped, while powdered detergent and skin care promotions remained stable, Nielsen Company executive director Teguh Yunanto told
reporters.
He said, for example, the duration of cooking oil advertisement
decreased to four weeks, from 13 weeks in the first quarter last year.
Only the duration of promotions for instant noodles increased, to eight weeks from seven weeks a year ago, he added.
