A House of Representatives legislator says the Attorney General Office
(AGO) has been out-smarted by Djoko Tjandra, a graft suspect whose
whereabouts remain a mystery, and should be held responsible for capturing
the fugitive as soon as possible.
"The AGO should have coordinated better with the immigration department to prevent Djoko Tjandra from going abroad," Trimedya Pandjaitan said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Speculations say that Djoko has gone to Singapore.
"Therefore, the AGO must now quickly coordinate with Interpol and the national police to hunt down Djoko Tjandra," Trimedya said.
The Supreme Court has found Djoko and former Bank Indonesia governor Syahril
Sabirin guilty for their involvement in the Bank Bali graft case,
believed to have inflicted state losses of Rp 546 billion (US$55 million). (hdt)
