Search and rescue workers have now discovered the bodies of 30 miners who were killed in a coal mine explosion in the West Sumatra regency of Sawahlunto on Tuesday,
tempointeraktif.com reported.
As of Wednesday evening, the rescue team was trying to locate three other miners, who are feared to have been trapped under the rubble.
All the fatalities had suffered severe burns.
Rescue team coordinator Alexander Tarigan said his squad was encountering difficulties in attempting to locate the missing miners because of the high methane levels, which had reached 1 percent of the air volume — four times the tolerable limit of 0.25 percent. (ewd)
