Tanri Abeng denies connection to Kalla

State-owned telecommunication company PT Telkom president commissioner Tanri Abeng on Wednesday denied any link to presidential candidate Jusuf Kalla and his running mate Wiranto.
“I do not know if my name was submitted to the Election Supervisory Body [Bawaslu] as a member of the JK-Wiranto campaign team,” Tanri said as quoted by
tempointeraktif.com.
Neither the Golkar Party nor its campaign team had asked him to join them, Tanri said.
“But I would refuse such an offer since I know the regulation forbids state officials from campaigning for candidates,” he said.
Kalla’s campaign team chief Fahmi Idris had said previously he had informed all state officials involved in the campaign team beforehand.
Tanri, however, denied Fahmi's statement.
Bawaslu has questioned the involvement of state enterprise officials in the campaign teams of the incumbent President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and the incumbent Vice President Kalla, which violates the 2008 Law on Presidential Elections. (ewd)
