JAKARTA: Another malpractice case has been reported to the Jakarta Police, leveled by taxi driver Mulyono, 55, at the Kebon Jeruk health center (puskesmas).
Mulyono claimed a doctor at the center, identified only as O.R., had prescribed the wrong medicine to treat his respiratory problems, causing his skin to peel excessively (Stevens-Johnsons syndrome).
"As soon as I took the medicine he gave me, my lips started swelling and my skin started to get really itchy," Mulyono said.
"It's peeling off everywhere, and I mean everywhere. After I checked in at a hospital, they said I had an allergic reaction to the drugs."
Mulyono's lawyer, Mohammad Sentot from the Health Legal Aid Foundation, accused O.R. of carelessly treating Mulyono because "he was a simple cab driver".
Jun, a receptionist at the Kebon Jeruk puskesmas, confirmed Mulyono had been a patient there. -JP
