Classier Silver Bird hits Jakarta streets

JAKARTA: Governor Fauzi Bowo officiated Wednesday the launch at City Hall of the Mercedes-Benz E-class as a new arrival in the fleet of Silver Bird, owned by taxi operator Blue Bird Group.
The new cars, aimed at middle- to high-income passengers, offers exclusive services that include enhanced security, credit card payment and a luxurious cabin equipped with GPRS and Bluetooth.
"Our Silver Bird E-class is the best in its class. It offers a comfortable ride and skillful drivers," said company CEO and president director H. Purnomo Prawiro.
"They speak English and know all the tourist spots in Jakarta."
Silver Bird's current fleet of Nissan Cedrics, Mercedes-Benz C-classes and Toyota Crowns have a flag fall of Rp 7,500, while the E-class will have a flag fall of Rp 9,000.
Four hundred of the new cars will be rolled out this month. -JP
