JAKARTA: The Constitutional Court has annulled the legislative election results in two subdistricts in Rokan Hulu regency, Riau.

"The Court has ordered the General Elections Commission to rerun the election in Rokan Hulu within 90 days at the most," Constitutional Court Chief Justice Moh. Mahfud MD said Wednesday.

"The Court may assign two of its judges to supervise the rerun," he added.

The decision was based on a legal complaint filed by the Sovereignty Party, he said, regarding violations in the two subdistricts during the April 9 legislative election.

"The plaintiff proved that a ballot mix-up which occurred on voting day led to a legislative candidate in the province losing votes from the two subdistricts," he said.

Previously, the Court also ordered an election rerun in South Nias, North Sumatra and Yakuhimo, Papua.

The Court also revised regional legislative election results in the Aceh regency of North Aceh and the North Sumatra regency of South Tapanuli, at a request from the Regional Unity Party (PPD).

Following the revision, the PPD secured 1,876 votes in North Aceh and 720 votes in South Tapanuli, Constitutional Court chief Moh. Mahfud MD told a hearing on Wednesday.

The PPD had claimed to have lost 679 votes in North Aceh and 212 votes in South Tapanuli because of alleged electoral fraud. - JP
