Security personnel at Kebonwaru Penitentiary in Bandung, West Java, caught a man trying to smuggle hundreds of lexotan pills and one gram of crystal methamphetamine into the prison on Thursday.
Andika Dwi Prasetya, head of penitentiary security, told kompas.com that the man, identified only by initials YY (44), was visiting his detained son when an officer found 339 lexotan pills in a plastic bag inside a peanut snack bag and crystal meth inside a deodorant bottle.
YY claimed he did not know he was carrying the drugs, saying his wife gave him the package. The man and his wife have been arrested and are currently being questioned at the Kiaracondong Police office.
Andika said it was the second drug smuggling attempt at the penitentiary this year. (dre)
