The Meterology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency has outlined 30
hotspots in Central
Kalimantan at risk of forest fires in June.
“The agency has warned of the danger of fires in the province this month as the average temperature will reach 34 degree Celsius,” said Mega Hariyanto, head of the Central Kalimantan Natural Resource Conservation Agency (BKSDA), as quoted by
kompas.com on Friday.
Mega said that the hostpots were land clearing fires. “Each clearing covers two to four hectares on average,” he said.
BKSDA has deployed officers to ensure fire prevention and management personnel and prepared in Palangkaraya, Kapuas, Muara Teweh and Pangkalan Bun. (dre)
