City dismantles more N. Jakarta boom gates

JAKARTA: In a show of commitment to the Jakarta administration's aim of removing all boom gates in the city, the North Jakarta administration has dismantled 52 of the municipality's 722 boom gates.

City officials looked for and took down boom gates in three districts within the municipality Friday - Tanjung Priok (28 gates), Penjaringan (14) and Kelapa Gading (8).

Budi Hartono, the administration's head of public facilities, said the city would only dismantle boom gates blocking main thoroughfares.

"We're still looking for and dismantling boom gates in Penjaringan and Kelapa Gading," he said as quoted by beritajakarta.com. -JP
