BANDUNG: The family of a migrant worker in Saudi Arabia has raised questions about the fate of Antin Suprihatin, 34, following letters they had received saying she had died on May 24, 2009, from burns.

Antin's mother Karmini said she had received two letters to that effect. The first was from the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh, dated May 31, 2009. The other was from the recruitment company PT Gapura Duta Persada, dated June 7.

"We still have no idea what happened to our daughter," she said Friday.

She added Antin, who left for Saudi Arabia in 2007, had three children and had called her family in Bandung only nine months after starting work in Riyadh.

Karmini said Antin had never sent any money back home to her family, adding the phone call had been cut off suddenly when she was asking for the family's bank account number.

Karmini said she was confused but did not know who to ask about her daughter. Antin's husband had left his wife and children four years ago, she added. - JP
