The Indonesian Star Trek community brought the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise to life on Sunday, as they gathered at the Keong Mas IMAX theater in Taman Mini, East Jakarta, to watch the latest installment of the 40-year-old franchise.
Some 800 Trekkies (as they are called), including 671 members of the Indo-Startrek community, flocked to the theater to watch the much-anticipated movie, which chronicles the early years of Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock and their fellow crew members.
Your comments:
It was the biggest Indonesian Star Trek fans gathering ever conducted in Indonesia.
We finally made it. We received many applauses and compliments from the audience.
It is quite hard being a Star Trek fans here in Indonesia. Our endurance and hard work finally paid off as we hosted the gathering at IMAX. Star Trek is for everybody.
It has so many positive messages that we can learn. It pictures a perfect future for our planet and humanity. Star Trek is a way of life.

It's an interesting gathering of like-minded people. Trekkers are used the odd man out in Indonesia, and I still remember the days when I didn't have anybody to discuss Star Trek!
Yep, I'm a Trekker, and have been since I first watched Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock on TVRI back in the mid 1970s. Then in my college days, RCTI broadcasted Star Trek: The Next Generation, and it really made my day. Back then, it was so hard to find people who really understood Star Trek, and not only to watch Patrick Steward or Marina Sirtis on screen.
Today, thanks to the Internet, no trekkie can be lonely again. I can find many Trekkies in Indonesia. And when I joined the gathering yesterday, it's really a freshening experience.
