Indonesian shuttler Taufik Hidayat surrendered 9-21, 14-21 to his Malaysian rival Lee Chong Wei on Sunday in the final of the Indonesia Open Super Series 2009 at the Bung Karno Sports Complex.

The defeat prevented Taufik from breaking Ardy B. Wiranata's record of winning six Indonesian Open titles.

Taufik advanced to the final after routing his fellow Indonesian Sony Dwi Kuncoro 21-17 and 21-14, while Lee Chong Wei defeated China's Chen Jin 21-15 and 22-20 in the semifinals.

As Taufik lost in the final, Indonesia left the tournament empty-handed.

Malaysia won the women's doubles and men's singles titles, South Korea grabbed the men's doubles title and China clinched the mixed doubles title.

Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal stole the show as she beat China's Wang Lin to bag the women's singles title. (ewd)
