4.7-magnitude quake hit Bengkulu

An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale hit Bengkulu, on the
western coast of Sumatra at dawn on Tuesday. No damage or injuries were
reported.
The local Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency reported that the quake's epicenter was located 43 kilometers southeast of the province at 33 kilometer beneath sea level.
Dadang Permana, head of the agency's office in Kepahiyang, Bengkulu, said that small earthquakes have frequently hit the province since a 7.9-magnitude quake shook the northern areas of the province in 2007.
Bengkulu lies adjacent to West Sumtra, close to the intersection of the Indo-Australian and Eurasian tectonic plates.
