Prosecutors have sent Djoko Soegiarto Tjandra, a fugitive in the Banking Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) scandal, a third warrant to surrender himself on Friday afternoon at the very latest, amid pressure to declare him a fugitive, Attorney General’s Office (AGO) spokesman Jasman Pandjaitan said Tuesday.
“This is our last [warrant]. No more warrants will be sent if Joko doesn't come by Friday at 5 p.m,” Jasman told reporters at his office.
When asked whether the AGO would name Joko a fugitive if he did not show up, Jasman said, “then we will discuss what steps to take next”.
Last week, the Supreme Court issued a verdict upon the AGO's request of review, sentencing Joko and former Bank Indonesia governor Syahril Sabirin to two years’ imprisonment and ordering Joko to pay Rp 546 billion (US$ 51.88 million) as restitution to the state.
The AGO has yet to confiscate the money from an escort account in Bank Permata. (
