BONDOWOSO: Bondowoso regency in East Java has recorded an increased rate of HIV/AIDS fatalities since 2004 because of a lack of voluntary counselling and testing (VCT) clinics and care support treatment (CST), a health official says.
"Patients have to be referred to a VCT clinic at Dr. Subandi *Hospital* in Jember," said Bondowoso health agency official Bambang Supeno on Tuesday.
Adding to problems, he said, was the fact that most Bondowoso residents were reluctant to leave their regency for medical treatment.
Agency data shows that more than 30 of the 60 odd people with HIV/AIDS in the regency have died since 2004. -JP
