Banten Prosecutor’s Office has stopped its investigation into a Rp 20 billion (US$ 2 million) graft case concerning the construction of a regional public hospital in Balaraja, Banten, saying it has found no budget embezzlement.
Head of the Prosecutor’s Office Dondy Kumando Soedirman said Thursday he had signed a Letter of Order to Stop Investigations (SP3) as the prosecutors had not found any evidence of state losses or of parties enriching themselves.
“Why should I continue investigating the case if we have not found any corruption,” he said as quoted by

The office suspected wrongdoing during the hospital construction from 2003 to 2008 because some parts of the half-completed building had cracked and been damaged, despite there having been sufficient budget for its construction.
The office had named five suspects, including the head of the provincial health agency, Djadja Budiharja; head of the provincial economy bureau Muhammad Natsir; the director of PT Gelindingmas Wahana Nusa, Jhon Chaidir; the hospital project head Dimas Widiyatmo; and a consultant from PT Cipta Serang Mitra Ade Siswanto.
