Second presidential debate tonight

After the much-criticized first debate, the three presidential candidates
will face each other for a second round, to be aired live
by Metro TV on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Aviliani, an economist from the Institute for the Development of Economics and Finance, will host he debate themed “tackling poverty and unemployement,” among presidential hopefuls Megawati Soekarnoputri, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Jusuf Kalla.
Aviliani told kompas.com she was prepared for a more lively debate.
“I will not only ask questions but also present data. This will enable candidates to talk on concrete matters,” she said.
The first live-to-air presidential debate seession was much-criticized as candidates preferred to agree with one another rather than be perceived as impolite.
The General Elections Commission (KPU) is not likely to change the format of the debate and will allow each candidate seven minutes to present their vision and agenda, followed by 30 minutes of in-depth discussion from the moderator before candidates make their concluding comments. (dre)
