In a bid to heat up the next vice presidential candidate debate, the General Elections Commission (KPU) will invite doctors and nurses to attend the show that will focus on improving the quality of life in Indonesia.
“We’re inviting doctors and nurses, dressed in their uniforms, to make the debate livelier,” KPU member I Gusti Putu Artha said Friday in Jakarta, as quoted by kompas.com.
He added the commission had hosted earlier that day a meeting with the campaign teams of each candidate, representatives of TV stations that would air the debate, and the moderator for the next debate – Indonesian Doctors Association chairman Fahmi Idris.
The meeting agreed on changes in the debate format, including different seating arrangements, with the audience encircling the candidates.
“The candidates will be at the center and will have to be mobile,” Putu Artha said.
“We have also briefed the moderator to ask more focused and sharp questions so that people can see the difference in candidates' answers,” he said.
He added the meeting had also evaluated Thursday’s presidential candidate debate, and was quite satisfied with how it had gone, but said he hoped the next debates would be better. (adh)
