PALEMBANG: The number of voters in the city in the July 8 presidential election decreased to 1,070,000 people compared the April legislative elections, which reached 1,076,290 voters.
Member of the Palembang Election Commission (KPUD) Abdul Karim said Wednesday 6,283 people had been dropped from the legislative election list as they were "double names".
"It's our duty to *clean' the double voters. We have reported this to the National General Election Commission."
He said the double names were found in almost every district in Palembang, the capital of the South Sumatra province.
Meanwhile, member of the South Sumatra KPUD Alfiyan Toni said he had not received a report from the Palembang KPUD on the change of the number of voters, saying the number of voters in the province had reached 5,320,731 people. - JP
