PURBALINGGA: Schools in the Central Java city of Purbalingga recorded excellent results in this year's national final exams, with 290 students acquiring a perfect score in math.
In 19 of Purbalingga's junior high schools, every student managed to pass the examinations.
The 290 students are from 34 state and private junior high schools in the city, out of a total 118 in the regency, Purbalingga eduction office head of middle education Subeno said Friday.
"We deserve to be proud of this achievements. On the other hand, *I* also feel despondent because there were *five junior high* schools with a pass rate of zero," he said.
The agency said more than 90% of the 12,444 who took the papers in the regency achieved a pass, up from 84.20 percent last year. -JP
