fter having her picture splashed across newspapers and on TV, golf caddie Rhani Juliani, the key witness in the murder of her husband, Nasruddin Zulkarnaen, made a public appearance at the Jakarta Police headquarters Friday, but said nothing to the press.

Rhani arrived at 11:40 a.m., flanked by several police officers. Dozens of reporters chased after her but she stayed tight-lipped.

The officers then took Rhani to meet reporters, but she only waved and said, "Thank you."

At 3:15 p.m., she left the station in a police car, also without speaking.

Jakarta Police chief detective, Sr. Comr. Iriawan, said Rhani had been questioned over several telephone numbers suspected to have been used by her and Nasruddin, the director of state-owned PT Putra Rajawali Banjaran, who was killed in a drive-by shooting in Tangerang, Banten, on March 14.

The detectives also questioned Rhani about a meeting at the Gran Mahakam Hotel, at which she, Nasruddin and suspended Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chief Antasari Azhar were present.

Antasari is suspected of being the mastermind behind the murder.

Iriawan refused to go into details on the questioning, saying only, "Just come to the upcoming trial."

Last week, detectives summoned KPK deputy chief Chandra M. Hamzah over the use of the KPK's wiretapping device.

Police allege Antasari had allegedly ordered Chandra to wiretap five telephone numbers, two of them believed to belong to Nasruddin and Rhani.

Adj. Sr. Comr. Nico Afinta Sukapiring, head of the Jakarta Police's serious crimes unit, said this was not Rhani's first questioning.

"Today was just additional questioning. We've already questioned her several times before," he said.

Iriawan said Rhani had admitted to changing her phone number several times at Nasruddin's request.

He added witness testimonies indicated Nasruddin and Rhani had been threatened by Antasari after the meeting at the Gran Mahakam Hotel.

After her husband was killed, Rhani sought police protection.
