Your comments on Djoko S. Tjandra's flight abroad one day before the court handed down its verdict finding him guilty of corruption.
Djoko S. Tjandra's flight abroad before the Supreme Court's verdict was just a logical and clever move.
At the time he was a free person, the Supreme Court had not declared him guilty of any crime.
Syahril Sabirin, Djoko's accomplice, based on the Supreme Court's Review, was sentenced to two years in prison; it was only logical and predictable that Djoko would follow suit.
The only available course of action for Djoko was to leave the country immediately.

It is appalling that after so many politicians promising to combat corruption, such a thing can still happen.
Maybe the government should start fighting corruptors in the bureaucracy, because there is no doubt Djoko bribed officials to get out of the country.

Fly away Djoko is an example that corruption in this country's judicature has become a culture.

If the relevant officials have learnt anything from the flight of criminals in the past, they should have had procedures in place to prevent such people fleeing the country.
But I think this incident shows that bribery is still common among our law enforcers.
