The Jakarta administration is set to hold a carnival to celebrate the city's 482nd anniversary on Sunday.
Head of the Jakarta Tourism and Culture Office, Arie Budiman, said the carnival will parade from City Hall to Hotel Indonesia traffic circle and vice versa.
"We hope this carnival will become an icon for Jakarta," he said, adding that Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo will open the carnival at 3.30 p.m.
He said that 1,600 people from the Bike to Work community, Big Motor community and other organizations are expected to participate in the event, Tempointeraktif.com reported.
The carnival will feature a Betawi art show, which will be performed in front of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

Its literally unbelievable that in such a congested city one would even contemplate a street parade. It ranks up there with the misguided "car-free day" (which ends up causing more pollution from the trafic jams it creates).
Plenty of space in Monas, Senayan, Ancol, or the South. Is common sense not that common anymore?
