Presidential hopeful Jusuf Kalla has vowed to continue to government's
much-criticized outsourcing system, on the condition that companies
provide larger salaries to their employees.
During a campaign rally in Cirebon on Sunday, Kalla said companies must prioritize and protect their outsourced workers over there permanent employees.
“The outsourced workers have objected to the system as their firms have ignored their welfares,” he said, as quoted by kompas.com.
At the meeting, some local rattan businessmen complained to Kalla about difficulties they have exporting their products due to the government's policy on exporting rattan.
“If I am elected as the president, I will not export local resources, including rattan, pending the fulfillment of domestic needs,” Kalla said. (ewd)
