A former supplier for the Manpower and Transmigration Ministry, Erry Fuad, was sentenced Tuesday to two-and-a-half years in prison for corruption in procurement projects at the ministry in 2004.
"We find the defendant guilty of corruption and sentence him to 30 months in prison," said presiding judge Martini Mardja, when reading out the verdict at the Corruption Court in Jakarta.
Erry, the director of CV Dareta, was ordered to pay Rp 50 million in fines or serve an additional three months’ imprisonment for failure to do so.
Dareta was in 2004 directly appointed to procure training equipment for seven vocational training centers across the country, in a move that caused Rp 2.1 billion (US$210,000) in state losses.
