Megawati-Prabowo to hold campaign rally in Jakarta today

Presidential candidate Megawati Soekarnoputri and her running mate Prabowo Subianto will hold an open campaign rally at Bung Karno Sports Stadium in Senayan, Central Jakarta on Tuesday. Around 200,000 people are expected to crowd the area.The rally, officially titled “Mega-Prabowo Pro-People for Indonesia, will start at 1 p.m. and end at 4 p.m., but the crowd are expected to begin flocking the area in the morning.
“I am asking the Jakartans for their understanding of traffic congestion before and after the event,” chairman of the rally committee Effendi Simbolon told journalist Monday.
Megawati-Prabowo will join a parade on Jl. Jendral Sudirman and around the stadium before entering the stadium, he said.
The event would also involve popular bands 3 Diva, Radja, Jamrud, singersEmilia Contesa and Denada, and also a traditional music troupe from Wonogiri, Central Java to entertain crowds. (dre)
