Papuan police officer dead, regent in critical condition after drinking liquor

A police officer has died and a local regent remains in critical condition, after reportedly consuming liquor in Timika, Papua.
Papua Police chief Insp. Gen. Bagus Ekodanto confirmed Tuesday that Tolikara Regent John Tabo had been hospitalized at Timika General Hospital and a police officer had died in the incident.
“[Officer John] had been drinking at Queen Bar with a number of men, including one of my subordinates. [They] drank too much,” he said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
However, Bagus did not give further details on the incident.
John had been implicated in a corruption case, with the local police seeking a warrant for his arrest.(dre)
