The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Wednesday arrested Hariadi Sadono, a director of state-owned electricity company PT PLN overseeing outside Java-Bali, for his alleged role in a corruption case involving an Rp 80 billion customer application system project.
Hariadi's lawyer, Alamsjah Hanafiah, said his client, who at that time of the crime served as the general manager of PLN's East Java office (from 2004 to 2008), was accused of embezzling money in the project.
"But I think the arrest is premature," Alamsjah said as quoted by Antara news agency.
"The direct appointment in the [application system] project was allowed at that time by PLN president director Edhie Widiono."
Alamsjah claimed Hariadi had never received any money from the project.
