This is a response to a letter titled "Children and sex education," (the Post, June 27).
I found this letter very interesting and feel very sorry for those Muslim parents in London who are forced to watch their children being taught concepts of homosexuality in a public school (which their taxes pay for).
I think it is unbelievable that the local council would even consider legal action against the parents for withdrawing their children from the school. If they do not want their children taught certain things, this should be allowed because it clearly goes against the religious beliefs.
I wonder what would happen if those same Muslim parents decided to run another "cultural event" themselves in the school, titled the "Truth About Christmas". The parents could run presentations about how Santa Claus is not real, about how it's actually the parents who buy all the presents each December and how all their children's letters are thrown away by the postal services.
It's all a big lie. Isn't the truth about Santa more important than some facts about gay penguins as children are being taught in England? Children are being deceived every year and they have the right to know about it!
So, if Muslim parents wanted to run their own "cultural event" to help those innocent little children understand what big liars their parents are, and what a big scam Christmas is, would the school show the same amount of support as they did for gay penguins or the homosexual rendition of a Shakespeare classic named "Romeo and Julian" If the school refused permission for those Muslim parents to hold their special "Truth About Christmas" event, would those parents also be allowed to sue the school and the local council for bigotry or intolerance?
Or is it only called bigotry and intolerance when you try to follow your own religious beliefs in an area where those beliefs are not held by the majority?

How about a "cultural event" that presents the truth that man invented the concept of a god? It's all a big lie. Children are being deceived every year and they have the right to know about it!
Yes - Santa Claus, the tooth fairy and god are all fictitious, and at a certain age these beliefs should be stopped.
However gay penguins and Shakespeare are reality.

Gene, I do agree with you on the right of those Muslim parents in London to withdraw their children from the school that teaches homosexuality, as I will do to myown. However I am appaled to the way you put forward your argument, by single out Christmas, Santa Claus as examples. You could have offered other better examples than irresponsibly suggesting that Christmas is a scam! I and many more folks were offended by your narrow and reckless analogy. You may need to clarify what you actually mean "a big Christmas scam" in place of an appology.
