Jakarta Police have arrested three debt collectors and a member of the police's Mobile Brigade (Brimob) unit for the kidnapping of Agus Ramdan .

Adj. Sr. Comr. Chrysnanda Dwi Laksana, a spokesman for the Jakarta Police, said in a press statement released Wednesday that they arrested the suspects when handing over ransom money on Tuesday night.

Agus Ramdan was kidnapped on Sunday from his home in Depok. The kidnappers later contacted his wife and asked her to transfer Rp 20 million (US$1,960) to an account.

Agus' family transferred the money only to have the kidnappers asked for Rp 50 million more. The family then contacted the police for help.

Police from the Crime and Violence unit instructed the family to arrange a handover at Ratu Plaza in South Jakarta on Tuesday night.

Three men, identified only as Jok, Bak, and An, and the unidentified police officer were arrested at the scene.

The police are further investigating the case. (dre)

"the police's Mobile Brigade unit."
BRIMOB right? The unit which benefits from training and "soft loans" direct from foreign nations such as Great Britain, in their case under UK legislation introduced to fight the War on Terror! Come on, did the officer use one of those expensive Armored Personnel Carriers the British tax payer funded?
