Prita answers doctors association summons

Prita Mulyasari, who was recently acquitted of libel for complaining about Omni International Hospital's poor service, will answer a summons from the Indonesian Disciplinary Council of Doctors (MKDDI) on Wednesday.

Prita said that she was summoned to clarify her case with the council, which is part of the Indonesian Doctors' Association (IDI).

“I am willing to answer the summons,” she told tempointeraktif.com, adding that she would go to the council accompanied by her husband, Andri Nugroho.

Prita was charged with defamation by the Banten Prosecutor’s Office, who filed an appeal against the Tangerang District Court’s acquittal of the case using the new electronic information law.

Prita, the mother of two who sent emails to her friends complaining of the ill treatment she received at the hospital, was arrested for defamation after her emails were spread across mailing lists and Internet blogs.

Last month, the Attorney General’s Office replaced Chief of the Banten Prosecutor’s Office Dondy K Soedirman, after the office became the target of public outcry regarding Prita’s arrest. (dre)
