Ari Yusuf Amir, lawyer for former KPK chief Antasari Azhar's, has yet to be informed whether or not his client will be released form Police custody, despite the fact that today is the last day of his originally scheduled detention period.

Ari urged the police Thursday to release his client if his detention status is not resolved by the end of the day.

"We have also sent a letter to the court requesting Antasari’s release," he told The Jakarta Post.

The police, meanwhile, have yet to confirm Antasari's detention status.

AGO's spokesman Jasman Panjaitan said that he had not been informed about the police's request to extend Antasari’s detention.

Jakarta Police Detective Chief Sr. Comr. M. Iriawan last week said that detectives would send Antasari's dossier to prosecutors this week.

Antasari, one of six suspects in the March 14 murder of businessman Nasruddin Zulkarnaen, has been in the custody of Jakarta Police since May 3. (bbs)
